DIY Gift Bags

 Last year I got super into making my own gift bags from wrapping paper!  It's perfect for irregular sized gifts, cost effective if you don't want to buy bags and perfect for when you don't have a box lying around.  To make a bag you lay out your wrapping paper and set the gift on it (to make sure it's wide enough.  Then cut the wrapping paper and fold the two ends on to meet in the center.  Tape that together.  Then on the bottom, fold several inches up.

Once it's folded, open it into this diamond shape.  Then fold the top and bottom points to the center, there will be some overlap.  Tape.  

Then open up the bag, add the gift and add finishing touches to the top!

Reindeer Gift Bags

Last year, Hadley wasn't ready for Christmas to be over, so she chose Christmas and specifically reindeer as a theme for her January birthday - I loved it!  I put together these reindeer gift bags for all the kids who attended.

For This Project You'll Need:

Brown paper bags

White Cardstock

Black Cardstock

Red/Brown Glitter Cardstock (you could do just red noses, it can be glitter or plain)

Patterned scrapbook paper that corresponds with brown

Brown Pipe Cleaners

Glue Dots (I used these to stick everything on)

2 sizes of circle hole punches (optional, you can also trace and cut the circles out)

Goodies to fill the bag

Along with some candy, these were my fun purchases from Oriental Trading, great prices, especially since I was buying them in January!

Although I made these for a Christmas-themed birthday party - they would make adorable Christmas gift bags!!

Chalkboard Tape Gift Bag

 

 

At Walmart, I found a new discovery - chalkboard tape.  I bought it, knowing I'd figure out uses for it!

 

 

 

I had a birthday present to wrap, so I decided to test it out!  I found chalk writes very well on it and erases just as well.  I think a great use would be at a party to label food and drinks.  But today, I put it on a gift bag, wrote happy birthday and added a bunting embellishment.

 

For this project you'll need:

a plain gift bag

chalkboard tape

chalk, a chalk marker or paint pen

scissors

a variety of washi tape

 

 

 

It's pretty self explanatory - just put a strip of chalkboard tape on your gift bag.  Cut pieces of your washi tape into the shape of bunting.  Stick it to the tape/bag.  Then connect the pieces of tape with your chalk marker and write happy birthday.
